“Sad Pandemic and Social Unrest…
I was sad to hear that Arcadia had looting occured during the social unrest as Jenny from Pollard’s explained to me. Just days before the social unrest, she removed everything from the front window and put up snow-flakes falling from the ceiling for the month of June. Although, the Music Store to the right was looted and several instruments were taken. Also, not so lucky was the Exercise shop on the corner; which someone took off with several exercise bicycles down the street. These incidents were never reports in the local newspapers. Going for more sad news, is George Appliance Shop in Temple City is for sale! Any takers? I guess he wants to retire?
Our Zoom account has been getting a lot of traction lately with several min-groups using the account to meet, which good to hear.
Over-the-weekend, our 2nd V.P. in charge of Programming; Linda Rasmussen, put on the long awaited presentation of “Quilting Trips & Tricks”. Wandering-In-The-Park!!! Yes, we met on July 5, 2020, 1:00 p.m. at the corner of Santa Anita & Huntington Dr., Arcadia Park for our first social-distant-group gathering since March 2020. You needed to wear a Face-Mask, bring a chair, water and two guilt’s for our Show-N-Tell.
Santa-Anita park get-to-together was great! He had 10 members join us. We updated ourselves on what is going on the quilting industry and did Show-&-Tell. I also, gave out my gifts those members who made masks for various organizations within the community. kTLA Channel 5 News was there and interviewed me about our activities in the park and asked about the air quality after the fireworks in the greater Los Angeles area. I was aired several times that evening starting at 6:00 p.m.
