President’s Message

Manny Caldera, President, July

“Happy Fourth of July

What happen? “Well let me tell you…

Well, I am very excited after receiving a phone call from Arcadia Community Church informing us that we will be able to return back to our regular meeting nights on August 25, 2021, 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.  All members must be vaccinated to enter the building.  For those members attending the meeting in August, the Board has voted that all Guild Members shall were a mask including guests.  We also, will have access to the Church WiFi in order to continue our Zoom sessions to support our members living outside of California or for those that cannot come to the meeting that evening can join us on Zoom.  We are also allowed to have snacks (wow, I was getting concern here).  So, August is our Mentor Night and our In-Guild Education Coordinator Chair Kim Greenfield is planning a great program.  And do not forget; we have Show-&-Tell that evening as well.  Please only 2 quilts per person at this time.

Cindy Caldera, 3rd V.P. of Fund Raising is in the preliminary planning stage for having a two-day Mega Estate Fabric Sale in October.  A small committee has been formed to address the task.  More information will follow and updates to our Board and Membership will follow as well.

Update on Monica’s Quilt & Bead Creations!  I received a call from Monica’s on June 17, and she has had her business for sale for several months, it went to escrow, but fell out of escrow in January of this year.  Road-to-California 2022 will be her last show.  If her shop does not sell by March, she will have a liquidation sale starting in March and into April.  Monica needs to be out of the building by the end of April. Start saving your money.

I just returned from Vina De Lestonnac Convent in Temecula with Busy Bear Quilt Guild from Big Bear California for their retreat, and there is a new Chef in Town.  There were some concerns on the food. More to follow.  This is the same location as our winter retreat.
