Written the evening of March 5th.
I’m sitting here recovering from a day of being a cashier at our guild’s Mega Yard Sale. Wow! What a day! We raised over $1500 but more importantly, we rid ourselves of way too much fabric, notions, books, patterns, lights, and even some strange stuff. We still have some to donate away but not too much.
I want to offer some truly sincere thanks our Vice President of Fundraising, Kim Greenfield. I was in awe of her organization, unflappability, and good humor throughout the day. Also we owe thanks to Kim’s husband, Mark. After promising to store our pile of fabrics, etc. for 2-3 months, he ended up having them in his building for more than two years. And he was with us all day today helping wherever he could.
Further thanks to all of our wonderful guild volunteers who came two Fridays before to sort and make decisions about the massive amount of stuff and then came at 7am today to move it all out to tables in the parking lot. More came later for the afternoon shift. I am so proud of our hardworking members – and quite a few roped their spouses into the effort too.
And the last thanks are to Mother Nature – a little rain in the morning right before we opened and then a beautiful day until the rain returned at around 2pm. Maybe Mom Nature is a quilter?
