President Message October 2021

President’s Message

Manny Caldera, President

“Happy Halloween,

What happen? “Well let me tell you…

Linda Emery, Wandering Foot Quilt Guild long time Parliamentarian passed away on October 5, 2021.  She was a long-time member; an outstanding hand piece quilter and a friend to many in the Guild.  Linda will be missed by so many members.  Additional information will follow from the family.

Our 2nd. V.P. (Workshops), Elizabeth Phinder and family will be moving to Arizona to their new home.  She will now have her own sewing studio going forward.  Elizabeth will continue to meet via Zoom and provide an outstanding workshop working with her team with 1st. V.P. (Programs) Terry Simon and our Secretary, Linda Rasmussen, Yeah!  As I write this column, this group is already planning for next year presenters.

Louise Jandura, Winter Retreat Chair, has cancel the retreat for December 2021.  E-mails went out to the guild members who had participated in the 2019 retreat to see if there was interest.  Base on that information, Louise decided that safety of the members was more imperative, and moved the funds over for the December 2022.

The Holidays are coming, and there is one more newsletter in November.  Thanksgiving, Election of new Officers, Christmas, New Years and The Tournament-of-Roses Parade 2022 is on.  And by the time the last newsletter of the year is published, Daylight Saving Times will end on November 7, 2021. So, there will be less individuals taking the bus and more drivers on the road.

Be safe, keep sewing and I will see you at the October Meeting where we have Amy Friend who will be presenting “An Introduction to the Modern Quilting Aesthetic”.
